Remedy Shared the News About Max Payne’s Remake Release Date

Remedy Entertainment, the brains behind the Max Payne, Control, and Alan Wake games, has released exciting news: they are seriously planning remakes for both Max Payne 1 and 2 titles under the supervision of Rockstar. Additionally, they have hinted at interesting details about their upcoming titles.

Those who love this tough shooter game from a third-person perspective know well how Max Payne rocked the gaming world in 2001. Its popularity is easy to explain because of its grim atmosphere, neo-noir style, and exciting bullet-time effects – an obvious reference to the cult The Matrix movie series. These remakes might offer fresh graphics and potential surprises, mixing old feelings with modern gaming style to bring back the pain in a new way.

What Is The Development Roadmap for All Their Games?

Recently Remedy Entertainment has revealed its quarterly report that includes the release date windows and plans for their future games: Max Payne 1+2 remake, Control 2, and the mysterious multiplayer game in the same verse – “Codename Condor”. The news about the development of the first two games in this list was shared with the public in 2022, so the fans who expected the details finally received some official details instead of insights and speculations.

It seems that Max Payne 1+2 remake is currently in the “pre-production stage”. Control 2, on the other hand, is still at the proof-of-the-concept stage. The multiplayer spin-off Codename Condor that occurs within Control and Alan Wake universe has finally reached the stage of full-fledged production but its release windows are still concealed. Remedy gives a hint that Codename Condor will have a “unique Remedy angle”, adding to the main gameplay loop that connects all their games. Moreover, the triumph of Alan Wake 2 has prompted more financial support for the studio’s ongoing progress in game development.

Just like with the Splinter Cell Remake release date rumors, we should expect the official update.

When is the Release Window for Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake?

Fans of Remedy Entertainment will be happy to hear this news. The developer’s plan for the Max Payne 1+2 remake is to mix 2 famous games into one massive remake set for a release date after 2026. This project started in a pre-production phase during October 2023 and should move to full production by Q2 2024 and bring back an exciting revival for the fans of hard-boiled, neo-noir shooters. Control 2 is also advancing in production, with tests and last changes concerning its mechanics and graphics. The next Q2 2024 report will reveal more news about these projects.

Also, currently Remedy is involved in the partner production of Codename Kestral (a multiplayer game), and DLC expansions for Alan Wake 2 expected by the fans in late 2024. This AW content will grow the Remedy Connected Universe (RCU) that people have shown great interest in.

According to multiple Reddit threads and speculations, people who like Max Payne games have been waiting for a new version of these games since they first came out in 2001 and 2003. Control from Remedy also became very popular in 2019, so players want to see more of that classic Matrix-like gameplay found in both Control and Max Payne series during the year 2024.
