Will We Find More About Hollow Knight 2: Silksong at Gamescom 2024?

Hollow Knight: Silksong is a much-anticipated sequel to the indie hit Hollow Knight (2017). There was no information or official details about this game during the first half of 2024, including the Summer Game Fest. Can we get any new information till 2025?

Well, it seems that we won’t get any updates during the upcoming event in Cologne – Gamescom 2024. The founder and host of the event Opening Night Live, Geoff Keighley, confirmed this rumor officially on X.

Announced back in February 2019, Silksong was originally supposed to be a DLC for the original title. But as development continued, the project has grown into a full-time sequel. A few years later Team Cherry confirmed the game would be available on Xbox Game Pass Day One and would be coming to both PlayStation 4/5. Hopes for a 2023 release were quickly dashed.

To this day, the Reddit community of Hollow Knight keeps its eyes open for any sign of Silksong in every major gaming event. The wait has been long, easily over five years, and it becomes maddeningly silent. Updates to a Hollow Knight sequel have turned into a running joke across the gaming community – every event passes by without new information. And it is understandable right now that we will see a delay up to Q2 of 2025, just like the release date of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Even though Silksong is sitting out, Gamescom 2024 will be record-breaking with over 1,400 exhibitors from 64 countries. It will offer many open pavilions from 48 countries. The action gets underway with Opening Night Live on August 20, hosted by Keighley, from August 21 to 25, 2024.

Hollow Knight: Silksong: Everything We Know So Far

Since Team Cherry doesn’t want to share any information about the release of Hollow Knight 2: Silksong, we gathered all the scraps of official information for you:

1) Release Date

Originally scheduled for early 2023, the Hollow Knight 2: Silksong release has been delayed without any hint for the year of launch, at least. Team Cherry occasionally posts information about their work on the title but it is veeeeeeeery slow.

2) Platforms

Silksong will definitely launch on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It will also launch on Xbox Game Pass Day One.

3) Gameplay

With a “new” protagonist, Hornet, the gameplay will become faster with a more agile platforming and a very special healing mechanic. You will continue to explore the bug-friendly kingdom of Pharloom, battling over 150 new enemies and bosses.

4) Story

The Hornet’s journey starts off with her kidnapping and then a consequent quest to reach the top of Pharloom, a kingdom haunted by Silk and Song.

We’ve honestly tired of waiting but it seems that we have to keep doing this even longer.
