Huge Announcements of TGA 2024

The Game Awards 2024 marked the 10-year anniversary. This time its founder and host Geoff Keighley brought the thrilling stage show as he mixed the biggest games awards with many huge gaming announcements. Fans around the world were watching the reveal of more than 20 projects during a 4-hour-long live broadcast. The Asami Games team decided to cover the most interesting things you can’t afford to miss if you love video games!

TGA 2024 Pre-Show Highlights

Even the pre-show didn’t spare the fun of World Premiers with a few interesting twists:

  • Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, an exciting The Game Kitchen reboot was the first surprise announcement;
  • Dave The Diver: In The Jungle promised lush new expansion for the indie favorite gem of the previous year;
  • Warren Spector’s multiplayer stealth game Thick As Thieves presented an unusual combination of genres and interesting mechanics;
  • Shadow Labyrinth rebranded Pac-Man as a gloomy Metroidvania, and it caught everybody’s attention just like the episode from the recent Secret Level anthology;

Other titles, such as Kyora and Re/Match were quite promising too, just like Steel Paws, Yu Suzuki’s mobile title with a bit of a nostalgic feel.

The Unexpected Reveals of TGA 2024

The Witcher 4  

CD Projekt Red also teased the first glimpse of their new Witcher story, this time with Ciri as the main character. It’s a darker, more intimate story as Ciri learns to be a witcher than the trailer revealed. There was no announcement of The Witcher 4 release date, but the hype is huge.

Elden Ring: Nightreign  

With Elden Ring: Nightreign, FromSoftware entered the multiplayer world. The stand-alone game expands on the world of the original with new challenges and old enemies. It will be released in 2025 and is already a highlight for FromSoftware users. The fans on Reddit are still guessing about the mechanics and want to join the open beta that starts very soon.

genDesign’s New Title

The long-expected reveal from Fumito Ueda hinted that a new unnamed title will have sci-fi roots and connections to the previous games of this genius game designer and his brilliant team.

Borderlands 4  

Gearbox released the first gameplay of Borderlands 4. It’s messy, flamboyant, and absolutely like any other Borderlands. For series lovers, more chaos is coming when it hits the stores in 2025.

Okami Sequel  

It was Capcom that had the biggest news of the evening. They announced the sequels to Onimusha and Okami. Okami 2 is the sequel after 18 years since the first game’s release. Hideki Kamiya is still a game director and this sequel is slated to take the magic of the first full circle, and production has already begun.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet  

Naughty Dog closed out the night with a thumping reveal. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is their first new IP in more than 10 years and it’s sci-fi meets action-characters like nothing else.

It was an ideal balance of nostalgia, novelty, and show during The Game Awards 2024.
