Rockstar Veterans Develop a Lovecraftian Horror Game
Ritual Tides – a New Horror Game from Ex-Rockstar Developers
Have you ever heard about the Vertpaint Studios launched mostly by ex-Rockstar devs? We’ve never done this before today when they announced their teaser for the first upcoming indie game in the horror genre. It is called Ritual Tides and seems very eerie and unsettling. The studio announced this Lovecraftian-based horror game for the soon release on PC in Q3 2025. The console release is expected sometime in Q4 2025 or earlier. Just like the previously announced game Bye Sweet Carole, we can’t wait to see this game.

What to Expect from Ritual Tides?
The first trailer does not disclose much but what it has shown is enough to make viewers of horrors tingle in their bones. Players are doomed to stay on a secret island that no one can escape. You will get the task of unraveling dreadful secrets of unpleasant monstrosities lurking in the darkness. Vertpaint Studios has indicated that the gameplay in Ritual Tides will focus on survival and that running or even hiding will be the main mechanics. The developers will disclose the details somewhere in February 2025.
The source material of this Lovecraftian horror has proved to be a goldmine as far as game designers are concerned, and Ritual Tides fits perfectly for lovers of horror adventure games like Call of Cthulhu and The Sinking City. An initial visual brainstorming and a short teaser revealed the low-polygon graphics reminded a sketchbook. Dark silhouettes with the background of a deserted native village on a cliff really make the screenshots horrifying. We can’t wait to get more details about this visually interesting game.
