Fans Will Get a Huge Update for Lightyear Frontier Soon!

Big things are coming for all the fans of the cozy sci-fi crafting/farming/surviving simulator – Lightyear Frontier. The major update will be released in late September 2024. Both developer studios, Frame Break and Amplifier Studios, have announced a new update titled “Neighbors and Animals”. Major changes will be related to the diversity of wildlife and expanded farming features.

About the New Update “Neighbors and Animals”

Lightyear Frontier combines a farming simulator as a core mechanic with a twist of sci-fi. Think of No Man’s Sky at this point. Placed on an alien planet, the game is all about resource management, exploration, and building a cozy farm with alien species. Players use the fully customizable mechas to plant crops, gather materials, and upgrade farms. It’s very relaxing gameplay that can be shared with a friend in co-op. Since its release in 2023, the regular updates have steadily increased its content, and this new pack that comes free is another proof of this policy.

The “Neighbors and Animals” update adds new alien neighbors to interact with. Also, it is a good deal of wildlife. Among the new characters is a botanist Ulf. He’ll be asking for your help in researching plants and experimenting with ways to mutate crops. This new feature lets the players make mutated versions of their crops. Later you can sell these plants at high prices or turn them into unique decorative items. Crop mutations add new layers of strategy and depth to the already sophisticated farming system.

Another major character in this update to help the player explore this strange egg all over the planet is Diane, a rancher. In fact, when these eggs hatch, different types of animals come out. You can bring them to your barns at farms. Players will also be able to dress up their animals with fun accessories. It looks very cozy and fun!

You can try this update along with the original game on PC and Xbox (Gamepass).

Previous Updates Are Also Fun!

A few months ago, the “Making It Home” update was introduced. That free update mostly focused on decorative items (ranging from banners to lights), increased daytime cycles, and an intuitive map system. Players could use new emotes for their exo-farmers and mechas. Also, the online mode experience became much smoother. It is worth visiting their sub-Reddit topic where fans share their experiences about the previous and upcoming updates.

Lightyear Frontier promises much to fans – check their ambitious roadmap for the next few months. It is going to be sweet to try! If you like cozy games with addictive farming and simulation mechanics, be sure to check out this game!
