Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Got the Release Window
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Gets the Spring 2025 Release Window
Spring 2025 is the release window for one of the most hyped RPGs ever – Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The game was revealed during this summer’s Xbox Games Showcase as a part of their Game Pass Day One lineup. Since that announcement, the game has been on everyone’s radar. People like its realistic graphics and a new take on turn-based gameplay of classic JRPGs like the latest Final Fantasy or Persona titles.
Voice Cast
The latest trailer reveals the voice cast, and, boy, it is good. Netflix Daredevil’s Charlie Cox leads in this game as the main protagonist, Gustave. At the same time, the famous voiceover actor Andy Serkis voices Renoir. The supporting cast features Jennifer English of Baldur’s Gate 3, Kirsty Rider of The Sandman, and Final Fantasy 16’s Ben Starr as the mysterious Verso. The gamers on Reddit are very excited about this star-powered cast.

Setting
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 explores Belle Époque in France. It is a world with magic, dreamlike enemies, and wild landscapes. Gustave and his fellow Expeditioners are trying to break the grim 33-year cycle of death that the mysterious Paintress has set for them in desperation. Gustave is left with only one year to live, making the stakes higher than ever. Players will find various locations along the way – from the Island of Visages to the Forgotten Battlefield. They are full of secrets and special companions you can recruit.
Combat System
But what really makes Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 special is its combat system. Called “Reactive Turn-Based” this combat system has a more dynamic take on the classic formula. The player will need to press the buttons at the right time to deliver the maximum damage. The defensive inputs will allow players to create successful parries and counterattacks. In general, the combat system will combine real-time actions with a turn-based strategy.

It seems Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is shaping up to be one of 2025’s most exciting releases. We will definitely see it on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud system. However, with heavyweights like Avowed and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza launching around the same time, the new IP will face some stiff competition.
