A New Feature of Nintendo Switch 2 Was Leaked
Will the Nintendo Switch 2 Have 2 Screens?
Rumors are currently circulating regarding the Nintendo Switch 2, and it really does sound like we may be in for a big surprise. If an insider and a report out of Taiwan are to be believed, the next Switch might just have not 1 but 2 screens. Yes, you heard that right – Nintendo Switch 2 may have 2 screens.
This is not an entirely new rumor, but it’s starting to get hype once again. If it is true, it’s a total game-changer, with a dual-screen setup perhaps meaning the Switch 2 will support the old games from the DS and 3DS libraries. Yes, we are talking about backward compatibility like on the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.

Just think of it: classic Nintendo titles will be once available for sale or by subscription on a brand new console with 2 OLED screens. Just saying, we don’t know for sure. Well, there is a slight catch to that. Adding another screen would increase the production costs of the console, compared to Nintendo Switch. And for developers, two screens might simply add a layer of complication in terms of designing and porting games for the new Nintendo Switch console.
Then in 2023, there was a filed patent by Nintendo for a dual-screen device that splits in half. But here’s where things get a little murkier. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa made indications that the Switch 2 would be more evolution rather than a full redesign. So, does that really put two screens on the table? Or is Nintendo sticking with something closer to the original Switch’s form? How dual screens affect the new exclusive games like Super Mario Odyssey 2.
Whatever they decide on the final design, it’s possible we won’t have to wait too much longer to see it with our own eyes. If industry reports of a late September or early October 2024 reveal ring true, the next chapter of the Switch saga may well be just around the corner.
Other Features Nintendo Switch 2 May Have
Many insiders, fans, and industry analysts believe the Switch 2 may also have a more powerful processor and improved graphics card to support higher resolutions and frame rates in exclusive/third-party games. This could translate to smoother gameplay and visuals, even when the console is in handheld mode. Some rumors even say it will be able to do 4K when docked, putting it at par with other current-generation systems such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Another rumor milling around is that the new Switch can sport longer-time gaming due to improved battery life. Some have gone so far as to hint at new haptic feedback tech in the Joy-Cons, similar to the DualSense controller’s technology on PlayStation 5. In such a way, games may get a better immersion and control feedback for a player. Even if some of these rumored features will end up in a new Nintendo Switch 2 console, it will be a huge step ahead for this quite controversial platform holder.
